Toyota has announced that we will be getting a brand-new version of the popular Toyota Highlander three-row midsize SUV next year. And while Toyota did not provide much detail on the new Toyota Highlander Grand, the automaker did confirm that it is coming. With that in mind, we thought we would look at what we expect to find with this new version of the Highlander.
A longer wheelbase and more interior space
This is likely to be the single most significant difference between the Highlander Grand and the traditional Highlander. The Highlander Grand should come with an extended wheelbase which will mean more passenger space. Again, we are assuming here, but the Toyota Highlander Grand should deliver the most significant increase in space in its third and second row while cargo capacity should also improve.
It will likely feature the same engine lineup
If we are to base our assumptions on current Toyota models, we expect that the Toyota Highlander Grand will be offered with the same engine lineup as the current Highlander. That means it will enjoy the new turbocharged 2.4 L four-cylinder engine that offers 265 hp and 309 pound-feet of torque. This engine replaced the outgoing 3.5 L V-6 earlier this year and offers 17% more power while also reducing carbon emissions by 50%.
We also expect a hybrid version of the Toyota Highlander Grand. This model will likely feature the same 2.5 L four-cylinder powertrain paired with two electric motor generators like in the traditional Highlander.
If the 2023 Toyota Highlander is any indication, the grand model should be able to tell 5000 pounds with the 2.4 L turbo and 3500 pounds with a hybrid.
We will get our first look at the 2023 Toyota Highlander Grand early next year. We promise to keep you informed of all of the developments as we receive them. Give us a call today to learn more.
