Three Things to Consider When Shopping for a Pre-Owned Toyota Hybrid Model

Toyota takes their hybrids very seriously. For decades, they have routinely been early- or first-to-market in whichever vehicle segment is making the transition, whether it be a full-size sedan or compact crossover. As a result, they have offered hybrid options in a number of styles and with the recent addition of the Tundra hybrid pickup, they have a hybrid entry in every major vehicle segment.

Of course, with as many offerings – and cars sold – as Toyota has with its hybrids, there are a number of fantastic low-mileage options on the certified pre-owned market. If you were ever thinking of making the transition to hybrid motoring, the time is now.

A Variety of Models to Choose From

The first Toyota hybrid model was the Prius in 1997, a compact city runabout that was the perfect application of Toyota’s now famous hybrid tech. Since then, the Prius as soldiered on, becoming larger, better-equipped and more powerful with each subsequent iteration. It’s a great way to break into the hybrid market.

Of course for small families, the Prius may be a push in terms of sizing. Enter the RAV4 hybrid, the most popular hybrid crossover on the market and one that has led the way to hybridization more than the Prius ever could. Today, the Hybrid model is so ubiquitous that in many markets – especially in Europe – they don’t even offer a gas engine option anymore. If the RAV4 is too small and you need to go bigger still, then you have the option to opt for the Highlander Hybrid, one of the few three-row hybrid models available today.

Proven Hybrid Tech

Toyota’s use of the Atkinson Cycle hybrid system has proven to be one of the most effective, efficient and dependable hybrid systems available today. It is the heart of almost every Toyota hybrid model you may be considering.

Toyota Certified Pre-Owned: Peace-of-Mind

In order to become a CPO vehicle, each Toyota must pass through a rigorous 160-point inspection that includes everything from the health of the engine mounts, to the cold idle, the transmission drive axles and frame check. Hardly any stone remains unturned during the inspection so you know that any certified pre-owned Toyota you drive off the lot is going to be at its best. A free tank of gas and first oil/filter change is also included with the purchase price.

Then, once you’ve left the lot, every CPO Toyota comes with 24-hour roadside assistance included (for a 6-month/10,000 km period) for service anywhere in Canada and the US. If you’re looking for even more peace-of-mind, you can opt for Toyota Extra Care Protection for inflation-protected coverage for unexpected mechanical failure and other roadside emergencies. There’s also a zero deductible policy as well as included Carfax vehicle history reports.

Indeed, you can never go wrong with a Toyota, but there’s also nothing wrong with having just that little extra peace-of-mind the certified pre-owned program provides.
